

A bone density exam measures the calcium in your bones using computed tomography (CT) scan. This test can determine the strength of your bones. The machine we use measures bone loss in the lower spine, which is one of the two areas where the greatest amoung of age related bone loss and fractures occur. This type of bone mineral testing is referred to as quantitative computed tomography (QCT).
When coming in for an exam, avoid wearing clothes with metal buttons, buckles, hooks or snaps. You may eat/drink prior to this exam.
