Park View Nursing Care Center resides in a facility built in 2001, with sun rooms, family areas, spacious rooms either semi-private or private, a family guest room for overnight stays, examination area and a large activity area. The facility itself sprawls on a hill side overlookin the city park of Muleshoe. Two fenced yards allow residents to walk outside and visit with family in the gazebo or enjoy a beautiful day. One of the fenced yards belongs to our special care unit, Meadows Park, a 16 bed facility that offers the security and activity needed for our residents that require such assistance. As the weather turns cold, come in and sit down by the fireplace in either the Day Room or the lobby area. In addition to the many amenities offered by Park View, through community donations we were able to purchase a bus for activities, outings and doctor transportation.

We at Park View are part of a team in which every member is important. While one team member’s performance may have little effect and another’s is felt immediately, all are important. Nursing is obviously our largest department, with Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Certified Medication Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Restorative Aides. From assessment and care-planning to administering medications as prescribed, feeding, bathing, resident advocacy, and many other tasks, this department is crucial to meeting our residents’ needs.

The Dietary Department prepares nourishing, well-balanced meals tailored to our residents’ needs and preferences. We strive to serve meals each resident enjoys and finds attractive. A resident’s weight is monitored at least monthly and weekly team meetings follow the progress and necessary interventions for any resident who has any weight change or skin breakdown issues.

The Activities Department focuses on therapeutic activities customized to individual interests. These include hobbies, crafts, music, journaling, and reading (and books on tape). Artwork is also introduced or re-introduced to residents in order to enhance and improve the quality of life for any individual, regardless of physical, emotional, or social disabilities. Utilizing art, drama, music and creative writing techniques, customized to an individual’s abilities offers many benefits: spritual enlightenment, physical involvement, social inclusion, and most of all, a sense of accomplishment in either a new or familiar medium of self-expression. Park View offers a fully equiped beauty shop and services are provided by many volunteers from the community.

The Social Services Department and Business Office coordinate community resources to help meet residents’ needs as well as provide one-on-one psycho/social intervention. Helping residents (and families) deal with losses, cope with the Medicaid maze and financial issues, and general problem-solving are all parts of the social worker’s venue and financial aspect of the business office. In addition, Park View has a family support group that meets monthly. Families help each other deal with the emotional stress that comes with admitting someone to the nursing home.
