In 2005, Muleshoe Area Hospital District became an all-digital, filmless imaging system. The Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) provides a computed version of all radiology images. The only exceptions are bone density exams which are being sent via courier to Baptist Saint Anthony’s Hospital (BSA) in Amarillo, Texas.
Physicians have access to the images 24 hurs a day from their computers. When patients need to pick up “films”, they are given a CD. Occasionally, some of the outside physicians still require a “hard copy” and we can still provide this when requested.
All images are sent electronically to BSA for interpretation by a radiologist.
