The Muleshoe Area Hospital District was created in June, 1989 - 89.5% of the District voted to create it. The District includes Bailey County and part of Parmer county.

The District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Each director represents a geographical area and is elected by voters from that area. Directors are volunteers and receive no pay.

Your medical center is part of the Muleshoe Area Hospital District and is supported, in part, by taxes levied on personal and real property. Tax revenues typically account for 5-10% of the District’s costs.

When you use your medical center for inpatient or outpatient care, you increase its total revenue. In addition, because most of your costs may be paid by other sources (Medicaid, Medicare or insurance), using your medical center brings new money into our community. This benefits you in two ways: it stimulates our local economy and reduces the need for taxes.

You may be aware that our Board of Directors imposed a necessary tax increase in our District. This increase can and will be reversed if the additional tax revenue is no longer needed. We are continually implementing changes to improve revenue for our District.
